Sarahan situated at the height of 2313 m above the sea level and 180 km from Simla, Sarahan is a beautiful small town 7 kiometer upper the river Satluze and faces the majestic mountains of the Srikhand range. The town is known as gateway of Kinnaur Route. Sarahan is identified with the Sonitpur mentioned in Puranas. These are spectacular sights at the time of sunrise and sunset as the sun rays touches the snowy peaks with crimson and golden light. Sarahan is the site of famous Bhimakali Temple, one of the 51 Shakti Peethas, dedicated to the Mother goddess Bhimakali, presiding deity of the rulers of former Bushahr State. Access : Nearest Airport (267 km) and Rail Station (244 km) is at Simla. The route of Sarahan bifurcates from Jeory Market on NH-22 (The Hindustan Tibet Road) Buses and Taxis are available at Simla and Rampur. One can also reach Sarahan via Jaluri Pass from Manali and via Kunjam Pass from Keloyng. Climate : In winter, the temperature can drop to below freezing point when heavy woolens are required and for summers light woolens are recommended.
